- Unaffected: Heart murmur or click present; echocardiography does not indicate adult onset valvular disease.
- Affected: Typical murmur of valvular insufficiency present; adult onset valvular disease diagnosed based on auscultation.
- Affected: Heart murmur or click present; echocardiography indicates adult onset valve disease.
ARCH Recommendations for the Diagnosis of Congenital Canine SAS Data entered: Required: Auscultation Other: Mucous membranes, jugular veins, arterial pulses, echo Diagnostic Criteria:
- Normal: Dogs with LVOT velocity <1.9m/s in the absence of either structural abnormalities of the LVOT or abrupt acceleration within the LVOT.
- Uncertain: Dogs with LVOT velocity ≥ 1.9 and ≤ 2.4m/s in the absence of structural abnormalities of the LVOT or abrupt acceleration within the LVOT.
- Affected: Dogs with structural abnormalities of the LVOT or abrupt acceleration within the LVOT or a velocity >2.4m/s.
ARCH Recommendations for the Diagnosis of Feline HCM Data entered: Required: Auscultation, Echo Other: ECG If IVSd or LVPWd >5.5mm: Blood pressure, Plasma T4 requested Diagnostic Criteria:
- Normal: LVPWd and IVSd end-diastolic wall thickness < 5.5 mm.
- Uncertain: Focal (segmental) or diffuse LVPWd and/or IVSd wall thickness measuring 5.5-6.0 mm at end-diastole, and without LV dilation.
- Abnormal: Focal (segmental) or diffuse LVPWd and/or IVSd wall thickness measuring > 6.0 mm at end-diastole, without LV dilation, and in absence of systemic hypertension, hyperthyroidism, or acromegaly
